Glyoxylic acid for you to share the basic information of allantoin!

Date of release:2019-03-25 Author: Click:

Allantoin, nicknamed 5-Urea Ethyllactam, Urea Acetate Lactam, Urea Hydantoin, Urea Imidazolidone, is a derivative of hydantoin. At present, the annual production capacity of allantoin in the world is about 50,000 tons. The demand market is mainly in medicine, cosmetics and agriculture. Because the content of natural allantoin extracted from natural animals and plants by traditional process is very low, the process is complex and the cost is too high, it can not be used on a large scale.

Therefore, allantoin is mainly extracted and synthesized by chemical synthesis methods, such as direct condensation of urea glyoxylic acid, dissolution of calcium acetate hydrochloric acid, heating of urea dichloroacetic acid, oxalic acid electrolysis glyoxal oxidation, synthesis of trichloroacetaldehyde, etc.

English aliases: Alantan, Allegron, Alphosyl, Alyonyldiured, Cordianine, Egopsoryl, Sebical

Production method: The product was synthesized from glyoxylic acid and urea.

Quality Indicators: (USP23)

Content (%) over 98.0

Drying weightlessness (%) less than 1.0

Burning residue (%) less than 0.1

Heavy metals (in pb) less than 10 ppm

Melting point: 226-240 C

Packing: 25kg Paperboard Bucket

Solubility: soluble in water, slightly soluble in glycerol and propylene glycol, very slightly soluble in ethanol and methanol, almost insoluble in mineral oil, sky ether and chloroform.

Physical and chemical properties: Allantoin is a non-toxic, tasteless, non-irritating, non-allergic white crystal, crystallized in water as a single prism or colorless crystalline powder. It can be dissolved in hot water, hot alcohol and dilute sodium hydroxide solution. It is slightly soluble in water and alcohol at room temperature, insoluble in organic solvents such as ether and chloroform, slightly acidic in saturated water (concentration 0.6%) and 5.5 in PH. It is stable in aqueous solution with PH value of 4-9. It is also stable in non-aqueous solvents and dry air, and can be decomposed in strong alkaline solution by boiling and sun exposure.
